I'm Not Too Proud, to Say "I'm Proud!"

I gosh-darn did it!

I’m now a Certified Embodied Processing Practitioner.

All too often we commit ourselves to something and work our butt off, finally achieve the thing and forget to take the time to let it all sink in…

We neglect the opportunity to enjoy the sense of completion, revel in the afterglow of achievement and accomplishment.

We close the open loop – tick it off the to-do-list and move on to the next thing.

I’ve set goals and achieved a lot over the years, often big things to me (that other people may find hard to comprehend) only to be a victim of the internal pressure of an over-achiever...incapable of just being proud of myself for a second.

I've jumped from one thing to the next, then the next - and eventually burned my candle at both ends until I couldn't...

Couldn't.

Do.

Anything.

At.

All.

It's not sustainable.

In light of that, I’m taking some time to breathe it all in and honour this…to admit that I am proud of myself. (I can feel the resistance as I write that word over and over, but I'm holding it in my experience...for science - wink.)

I won’t stay here too long, but I will own it in this moment.

Then, you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be onto the next thing – (and there ARE big things in the pipeline!)

Studying Embodied Processing has been as interesting, juicy and enriching as it has been confronting and challenging. Learning the intricacies and multi-dimensions of trauma, I naturally bumped up against plenty of my own (as expected).

What better way to learn than by ‘doing’? This experiential learning embeds a whole new perspective and deepens capacity and compassion as a practitioner. I am deeply grateful for this process and the wonderful team of mentors and student community.

I’m also grateful to my friends and children who have been very supportive and encouraging whilst I’ve been studying and completing my practical sessions in real time.

They’ve shared me with strangers for classes and practice sessions, kept the noise down when I need the quiet and in general been super excited to share the journey with me. They've congratulated me with big hugs and applause after each small win, because they know how passionate I am about helping people (and how hard it can be doing a solo-mum, carer, student and business partner juggling act.)

I am honoured to show them that even though it’s hard, you can achieve what you set out to do, even if no one else really ‘gets’ it.

You have to follow your own path, what lights you up, and work towards your own dreams. We have become such a strong team – inspiring and championing each other. Their support indescribably beautiful – such big hearts for little people...and I am so proud of them.

The insight and shifts inside of me, have had a noticeable impact on my parenting and is reflected in them quite astonishingly.

Now I’m taking the next two weeks off to finish some other projects with Ben for our business Vital Space Nexus and enjoy some uninterrupted time with the boys as we prepare for a new school year. I will begin taking client bookings in late February, with EP to be foundational in my sessions, blended with other wonders and magic in the toolkit.

I’ve seen my fair share of therapies, been around the healing, coaching and ‘self-help’ block a few dozen times  - and Embodied Processing really ties everything together.

I’m so excited to get into it. But first…celebrate and be with my family.

Big love,

Niki

 WHAT IS Embodied Processing?

'Embodied Processing is a trauma healing modality that is grounded in both the latest neuroscience as well as the ancient healing traditions. The process helps us to draw on the body’s innate intelligence to discharge stress, heal, and return to homeostasis. By guiding ourselves and our clients to meet ourselves at the roots, exactly as we are; transformation happens on its own.’ – The Centre for Healing
