We’ve all been through big shifts and challenges for the last few years. It’s been an unprecedented turbulence that has taken the minority by surprise, and we’ve all done our best to find our way through.
Things have opened up.
Planes are back in the skies.
People are filling the streets, as a sense of community is surfacing again.
Families can celebrate in person together, and faces are being revealed from beneath the masks.
Friends are reuniting, catching up for dinners and parties – able to hang out in real life without a screen in between them.
Many are discovering social awkwardness, tactile defensiveness, and perhaps a germ-phobia that they’d never experienced before.
Perhaps we find ourselves in a bit of a shell shock – a delayed reaction in our system that has been isolated and locked away, that now must share their space with others. The space that we have been told is too close for the last two years or so.
During this period, so many people have been through deep personal troubles, inner battles, and massive lifestyle upheavals.
Perhaps we’ve changed in ways that make us unrecognisable to our families and friends, and we’re not quite sure how to navigate this new normal, or where we belong anymore.
As an autistic person, this is how I have felt for most of my life. It feels like these days, more people I interact with are describing their feelings or sense of dysregulation without knowing how to articulate it. But I have recognised it because I live it. These experiences are real and valid, no matter what the neurological ‘status.’
What I recognise and feel currently, is less separation between neurodivergence and neurotypical – but a unified humanness…People. Humans with a shared need for stability, safety, control, and balance. It seems we ALL function with varying degrees of anxiety, of dysregulation and overwhelm – now more than ever perhaps.
When I found myself in the grips of PTSD – consumed by trauma that had never surfaced fully until now, I knew that there was something I needed to do to create my own sense of safety. A safety and stability that didn’t come from outside me, but from within. This is a muscle that needs to be built, exercised and maintained.
That is how the Reset & Regulate Regime began its inception, created from bare bones of something I’d started putting together over a year ago. The timing was now, and with synchronicity – a perfect time to assist ME to get myself back to my Zen, my powerful creator, my purpose, and my bliss. But it was also the perfect time to share with others…humans that have been dysregulated by the way our worlds have been turned upside down.
As a by-product of sharing my test run with a few others – this program has incidentally helped us all beyond expectation.
One person’s pain is one person’s pain. It’s unique and different for every circumstance, every being. Therefore, a unique and different approach seemed the only way to help people, from where they’re at, with what they’ve got and what they need, on an intimate and personal level.
It is a deep, heartfelt wish of mine to be able to use my (often unpleasant) experiences for the greater good. To spin the mud into gold and share these precious nuggets with those who are seeking them.
It is my wish and intention, that the ripple effect of the good that is generated, assists the well-being of others with lasting, positive benefits and a fruitful transformation for those who find it.
With love from my heart to yours,
Niki Humm
